For a 85cm waist circumference, it is too short to tie it the traditionnal way. I had to order a Iaido one to replace it.

This is an obi in the style of a iaido/kimono obi, and hence needs to be tied in this fashion. It is wider than a standard iaido obi, and flexible enough to be tied securely.
It provides a very secure foundation of tying in a hakama and dealing with the rigours of training. In addition, it helps to create a nice line under the hakama as it ties flat and without too much excess either side of the knot. A product certainly worth considering.
